Galaxy Glitter Mail and Candlestick

If you ask my daughter what her favorite color is she'll tell you "all the colors... AND SPARKLE" Lucky for me this project meets her approval. I love this project because it's so great for displaying memories, Christmas cards or just keeping up with your mail! For this project, I used a leftover thrift store frame. You can find something similar at any hobby store or maybe even in a box in your basement!

Supplies:

Americana® Acrylics:

  • Antique Gold (DAO9)
  • Burnt Orange (DAO16)

Galaxy Glitter™

  • Bronze Asteroid (DGG12)
  • Champagne Starburst (DGG14)

Other supplies:

  • water container
  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • scissors
  • mini clothespins
  • candlestick
  • paintbrushes
  • hot glue and a hot glue gun
  • hemp rope or twine
  • picture frame

Instructions:

NOTE: Keep applying layers of glitter until the desired look is achieved.

1. Paint the candlestick in Burnt Orange and set aside to dry. For the frame, paint the top in Antique Gold, gradually adding Burnt Orange to create an ombre effect and finishing at the bottom with just Burnt Orange.

2. Using the same ombre technique, apply Champagne Starburst to the top of the frame and Bronze Asteroid to the bottom, blending the two where they meet in the middle.

3. Paint the candlestick in Bronze Asteroid.

4. Cut twine into several pieces slightly longer than the width of the frame. Using a hot glue gun, fasten the ends to the frame and create several rows. Attach miniature clothespins
