Fun with Sugar Skulls

Remember those masks everyone had hanging in their houses in the '90s? As a kid I loved them and I KNEW that when I grew up my house would be decorated with them. I also planned to have a shiny iridescent couch in the shape of a seashell. Fortunately, neither of those ideas panned out! When I came across these in my favorite thrift shop all those memories came flooding back! I also knew exactly what I would transform them into!

Pretty Pastel Glass Pumpkin

I love fall! I love the leaves, the smell in the air and how it's finally cool enough to use my oven! I am a traditionalist when it comes to fall colors until this year when I decided to try something new! Pastel colors for fall? Turns out it's super fun!

Polymer Clay Treats are a Perfect Rainy Day Craft!

I have an Aunt who is quite talented when it comes to polymer clay. About 25 years ago (yikes!) she gave me some chunks of clay in varying colors, and I've moved this tin with me to every apartment and house I've lived at along the way. Always meaning to use it and never getting around to it!

10 tips for shopping at Goodwill!

Recently I participated in a market research study, and we were asked about our favorite places to shop. Anyone who knows me knows that my number one place to shop is Goodwill! Where I live, we have EIGHT Goodwill stores, and THREE are near my house! I often post my finds on social media and everyone asks how I find such amazing stuff. Because of this, I decided to put a list together of tips!

Bike Themed Skater Shoes

After finding these shoes at our local thrift store, I was inspired by my husband's love of cycling and the Tour de France! Since these are for my husband, I had to be careful and find that delicate balance of color without having too much. He was a skater punk back in the day, so I knew skater-inspired shoes would work great!

Fruity shoes!

I am confident that my daughter is at least half watermelon these days. Every time we hit the store she begs for more! That inspired me to make her these bright and fun canvas shoes. She LOVES them! To make them more fun, I added her other favorite fruit (oranges!) See below to find how to make your own!

Mandala Thrift Store Shoes

I have loved those videos I keep seeing in my newsfeed showing artists painting mandalas onto rocks. They are not only soothing but the rocks are just beautiful! When I was fortunate enough to find cute shoes in MY SIZE at the thrift store I grabbed them even if they were a color I don't usually wear (red!) I'd also recently ordered a Dotting Stylus set from my good buddy Amazon and I've been dying to use them. These shoes were perfect!

Old brass lamp + spray paint= modern beauty

I've wanted new lamps for our living room lately as the ones we currently use were a clearance find when I was right out of college, and that was nearly SIXTEEN years ago. How did that even happen? How do I have lamps that old?! A husband, two kids, and many moves later I guess life just kind of flies when you are having fun and exhausted.

The Chandelier I Made Red

I've wanted to start a blog, but I could never get past the name. It's an important part and something I really struggled with. Then this past spring while at a rummage sale I spotted a brass chandelier and the rest is history.

It was the last day of the rummage sale, and I knew they were willing to negotiate. The chandelier had initially been listed at $20, and I was able to get it for $5. That's right FIVE dollars! Earlier, when I made the proclamation to my husband that I wouldn't pay more than that for a dining room chandelier he scoffed. He really should have known better!
